One of the original 90+ Cellars Reserves, Lot 26 Barolo is a testament to the excellence and world renown of Barolo. Made at a highly acclaimed family winery in Piedmont, this wine has offered one of the greatest values on the Barolo shelf for over 10 vintages.
Often called the “King of Wines,” many consider Barolo to be Italy's greatest viticultural offering. The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards south of Alba, on southern-facing slopes in the Langhe hills. There, between the Alps and the Mediterranean, the grapes are influenced by cool air descending from the mountains and warm air coming from the sea. After a slow fermentation, the wine is aged for two years in oak, and then is kept in bottle for another year before release. Although drinkable now, Barolo is one of the longest living wines and can be cellared for years, even decades.
TASTING NOTES
This wine opens with inviting scents of dark berries and a touch of fresh herbs. On the palate, you'll taste juicy blackberries, dried cherries, and a hint of red plums, leaving a smooth, slightly spicy finish. The wine is structured, yet supple with a hit of spice.
